The Samruddhi Mahamarg path spans around 9,900 hectares. It is expected that the Samruddhi Highway route will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Nagpur to seven hours. The Mumbai Nagpur Expressway will connect Nagpur's Multimodal International Hub Airport (MIHAN) to Mumbai's Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT). Krushi Samruddhi Nagar would be built on more than 10,000 hectares of land, with an additional 145 hectares reserved for facilities and services along the Samruddhi Mahamarg route. Samruddhi Mahamarg Phase I route
On December 11, 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the Samruddhi Mahamarg route that connects Nagpur and Shirdi at Waiphal Toll in Nagpur.
Samruddhi Mahamarg Phase II route
Former Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde and former deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis officially opened phase two of the Samruddhi Mahamarg, which spans from Shirdi to Bharvir in Nashik's Igatpuri Taluka, on May 26, 2023.
Samruddhi Mahamarg Phase III route
The third and final segment of the 76-kilometer Mumbai Nagpur Expressway is scheduled to be finished in March 2025. Work on crash barriers, signboards, and safety procedures is currently underway. By the end of March 2025, the entire stretch should be open to the general public. To promote local culture, Warli art has been painted on the major tunnels in this segment, which is an intriguing feature. The longest of the six tunnels on the Samruddhi Mahamarg in Maharashtra is located near Kasara Ghat in Igatpuri. The longest tunnel, built using the "New Australian Tunneling Method," might last up to 100 years. The three-lane twin tunnel is 35 meters wide and runs 7.74 kilometers to the right and 7.78 kilometers to the left. It will take five minutes to cross the Kasara Ghat via this tunnel, as opposed to the existing twenty to twenty-five minutes.
According to a pooling arrangement, farmers will receive 30% of other developed land in exchange for land acquired for the Samruddhi Mahamarg project. Farmers would also receive Rs 50,000 per hectare for non-irrigated land and Rs 1 lakh per year for irrigated land for the next 10 years as part of the Mumbai-Nagpur expressway project.

Samruddhi Mahamarg's Advantages

Latest Samruddhi Mahamarg Updates
The 701-km Samruddhi Mahamarg is now fully operational following the inauguration of its final 76-km Igatpuri–Amane stretch on June 5, 2025.
The completed expressway has significantly reduced travel time across Maharashtra. The Igatpuri–Amane journey can now be completed in around 30–40 minutes, compared with more than 90 minutes earlier, while the Nagpur-to-Thane-side journey can take approximately 8 hours, compared with around 16–18 hours earlier.
Attention has since shifted to improving Mumbai-side connectivity to the expressway, including associated interchange and highway infrastructure that will make access easier for motorists travelling from Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai.
The expressway is now fully operational and offers significant time savings across Maharashtra. However, smoother connectivity for commuters from the Mumbai Metropolitan Region will depend on the completion of the Vadpe interchange and key approach-road upgrades, which are expected to improve direct access to the expressway.
